I am a Christian…
I believe that I am a sinner and need to be saved through Jesus Christ. Here is a brief description of my world view.
The World was Good
In the beginning, God made the heavens and the earth. All that God created was good. Humanity was made in God’s image to rule over the earth and enjoy communion with God. Everything was in a state of shalom, perfect harmony.
The World is Fallen
However, instead of submitting to God’s will, Adam and Eve and every human being since the beginning have rebelled against God and sinned. Therefore, we have all fallen under God’s judgment. And due to our sin, the world is now cursed and death is the natural course of man. Not only is physical death a reality, but we are separated from God. We desperately need reconciliation with God.
The World will be Redeemed
God, being rich in mercy, has sent his only Son, Jesus Christ to redeem us and the world. God offers forgiveness of sins and a new communion with him through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. By repenting of our sins and believing in Christ we are united to Christ. In the cross, Christ bares our guilt and his righteousness is counted as ours.
The World will be Restored
The Holy Spirit is currently working toward this renewal. And in God’s good timing, Jesus Christ will return and usher in the New Heavens and New Earth. All of those who have received him will reign with him for all eternity. All of those who have not received Christ will receive eternal punishment.
I am a Husband…
I am the husband to Naomi. We met through friends in college at East Tennessee State University through the Campus Crusade for Christ ministry. I fell for her hard. It took a little more time for her to fall for me. Yet God brought us together in the covenant of marriage on May 15, 1999.
May God continue to bless our union and may we continue through our marriage bear witness to the enduring love of God in Christ Jesus.
I am a Father…
God has wonderfully given to Naomi and I three beautiful and healthy girls named Lydia, Chloe, Karis, and one son named Titus. Fathering three little girls has allowed me to become an expert at Dora the Explorer shows and how to dress Polly Pocket figures. Having a son recently has helped me to become refamiliarized with footballs, soccer balls, and basketballs. More importantly though, God has caused me draw closer to him because of being a Father, seeing daily how much I need him in order that I should father my children well.
I am a Pastor…
God has graciously allowed me to Pastor his people. I sensed this calling in college. Upon my church’s blessing, I pursued theological and pastoral training at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Upon the completion of my M.Div, I pastored four years in a rural church in South Carolina. I have recently entered into a new work at Westwood Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
